Buckman Billygoats vs Foley Lumberjacks District 4B 2025

The Foley Lumberjacks claimed District 4's final available spot in the Class B State Tournament with a 12-6 win over the Buckman Billygoats in Sobieski. After Buckman took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st on a Matt Kummet rbi single and a 3-run Homer from Andrew Rueckert, the Lumberjacks came back with a Charles Hackett solo shot in the 2nd, then back-to-back solo Homers from Joe Ziwicki and Drew Beier and an rbi single from Noah Winkelman in the 3rd to tie it at 4-4. Ben Thoma's rbi double in the bottom of the 3rd put the Goats back ahead 5-4, but then the Lumberjacks got as 2-run bomb from Brett Leabch in the 4th to take their first lead at 6-5. Joe Ziwicki added an rbi single in the 6th to make it 7-5. Buckman made it 7-6 in the 7th on an rbi from Andrew Rueckert, but then the Lumberjacks closed the scoring with 3 in the 8th on a 2-run single by Drew Beier and a sacrifice fly from Joe Ziwicki to make it 10-6. In the top of the 9th, Foley got a solo Homer from Lukas Olson and a sacrifice fly from Lane Olson for the 12-6 final score. Trey Emmerich picked up the Win with 5 innings of middle relief. 

Nisswa Lightning vs St. Stephen Steves District 4B Championship 2025

The St. Stephen Steves completed their run through the District 4B Tournament with a 9-7 win over the Nisswa Lightning in the Championship game in Sobieski. Mat Meyer bashed a 3-run Homer in the top of the 1st, followed by a solo shot from Zack Fuecker to put the Steves ahead 4-0, only to have Nisswa score 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st to tie it up. Aaron and Brett Jenkins had rbi singles, then Chris Pederson tied it with a 2-run double. In the top of the 2nd, Jake Schelonka and Cole Fuecker hit back-to-back Homers to put the Steves up 6-4. Joe Tuholsky made it 7-4 with an rbi single in the 3rd and Cole Fuecker and Joe Tuholsky both Homered later in the game for the Steves. Down 9-5 going to the bottom of the 9th, Drew Boland doubled home 2 runs for Nisswa and the Lightning had the tying run at 2nd with 1 out but Jack Greenlun ended the game by getting a pop up to 1st and a strikeout to finish of the Steves victory.

Opole Bears vs Upsala Bluejays Region 9C 2025

The Opole Bears clinched their first ever State Tournament appearance with a 7-4 win over the Upsala Bluejays in the Region 9C Playoffs in Opole. The Bears erupted for 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st on an rbi single by Brodi Huls, a 2-run single by Chris Ebnet, a sacrifice fly by Masyn Patrick, a wild pitch and an error. Tate Lange came on to pitch in the 3rd and shutout Upsala the rest of the way on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts to get the Win. Justin Cichon, Bryce Binek, Matt Swanson and Brandon Welinski had 2 hits each for Upsala,

Pierz Brewers vs Aitkin Steam Region 9C 2025

The Pierz Brewers clinched a spot in the Class C State Tournament with a 6-2 win over the Aitkin Steam in the Region 9C Playoffs in Opole. Kaden Kruschek made it 2-0 for Pierz with a 2-run single in the 3rd. Landon Janzen drove in a run for Aitkin in the 4th to make it 2-1. Chuck Boser added a 2-run double for the Brewers in the 6th to make it 4-1, then in the 7th, Rylee Rauch scored on a wild pitch and Derek Dahmen was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to put Pierz up 6-1. A Landon Janzen sac fly in the 9th drove in the Steam's final run in the 6-2 final. Pete Schommer pitched into the 9th inning to get the Win for the Brewers with Rylee Rauch finishing the game on the mound for Pierz.

Pierz Brewers vs Randall Cubs Region 9C 2025

The Randall Cubs surprised the 2nd seeded Pierz Brewers 7-5 in a Region 9C winners bracket game in Pierz. Cubs righty Adam Nibaur was outstanding, throwing a Complete Game, striking out 7 and scattering 9 hits to get the Win. Alex Gwost was 4-6 with a double and an rbi, Nate Benning was 3-6 with an rbi, Rick Drew was 3-5 with 3 rbi singles, and Bob Sanders, Alec Zack, Brett Strack and Zach Gwost had 2 hits each to lead a 19-hit attack for Randall. Ryan Stuckmayer was 3-4 with a double, 2 rbi, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored for Pierz while Gunnar Wicklund and Preston Veith had 2 hits each for the Brewers.

Opole Bears vs Royalton Riverdogs Region 9C 2025

The Opole Bears eliminated the Royalton Riverdogs from the Region 9C Tournament with a 7-1 win at Hellie Field. The big hit on the game was delivered by Chris Ebnet, who cleared the bases with a 3-run double in the 7th for Opole. Brodi Huls was 2-4 with a 2-run double and a sacrifice and Luke Bieniek went 2-4 with a run scored for the Bears. Isaiah Folsom got the Win, going 6 1/3 innings while Tate Lange pitched 2 2/3 perfect innings in relief. Tyler Jendro went 1-3 with a double, was hit by a pitch and scored the Riverdogs lone run, and Brady Yourczek was 1-4 with an rbi for Royalton.

Buckman Billygoats vs St. Stephen Steves District 4B 2025

The 7th seeded St. Stephen Steves upset the 2nd seeded Buckman Billygoats 9-8 in the 1st round of the District 4B Playoffs in Avon.  The Steves trailed 3-0 after 2 innings, then opened the 3rd with 5 straight hits and a pair of sacrifice fly's to score 4 times and take a 4-3 lead. Noah Boser put the Goats back in front with a 3-run Homer in the 5th to make it 6-4 in favor of Buckman. The Steves answered with another 4-run inning in the top of the 7th on a Cole Fuecker rbi single, a Zack Fuecker rbi when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and a pair of Buckman errors to make it 8-6. Mat Meyer's rbi single in the top of the 8th gave the Steves a 9-6 lead, then the Billygoats got a 2-run Homer from Jack Suska in the bottom of the 8th to make it a 9-8 game. Landon Lunser picked up the Win in middle relief and Jake Schelonka earned a Save with 1 2/3 innings of hitless, shutout innings with 3 strikeouts. 

Nisswa Lightning vs Fort Ripley Rebels District 4B 2025

The Nisswa Lighting beat the Fort Ripley Rebels 11-1 in 7 innings in the 1st round of the District 4B Tournament in Avon. Nisswa broke open a 1-0 game with a 6-run 5th inning, keyed by a 2-run single from Aaron Jenkins. Brett Jenkins and Bodie Piepkorn delivered rbi singles in the 6th and Nate DeChaine ended the game in the bottom of the 7th with a walk-off 2-run Homer. Ben Dornseif went the distance to earn the Win for the Lightning. Bill Sather went 2-2 with a double and was hit by a pitch for the Rebels.

St. Wendel Saints vs Upsala Bluejays Region 9C 2025

The 5th seeded Upsala Bluejays upended the 4th seeded St. Wendel Saints 7-3 at Hellie Field in the Region 9C 1st round. The Bluejays used a 4-run top of the 6th, highlighted by an rbi double from Brandon Welinski and rbi singles from Jack Primus and Justin Cichon. Brady Burggraff had an 8th inning sacrifice fly, followed by a solo Homer from Jaxon Bartkowicz, then Upsala tacked on a run n the 9th on an rbi single from CJ Clear. Brandon Dickmann had given the Saints an early lead with a 2-run blast in the 1st, but the only other run St. Wendel could muster came on a Tyler Huls rbi single in the 6th. CJ Clear and Matt Swanson combined to pitch the Bluejays to victory.

Pierz Lakers vs Aitkin Steam Region 9C 2025

The #1 seeded Pierz Lakers beat the #8 seeded Aitkin Steam 6-4 in the first round of the Region 9C Tournament at Hellie Field. Ryan Diers smashed a pair of Homers, drove in 3 runs and walked as well as getting hit by a pitch, Chase Becker was 2-4 with a walk and 2 rbi, Noah Cekalla was 2-5 and Kolten Happke was 2-4 for the Lakers. Zack Ehnstrom was 3-5 with a double, Nolan Dotzler was 2-5 with a double and Carson Kullhem was 1-3 with a walk and scored twice for the Steam. Preston Rocheleau got the Win in relief for Pierz, going 5 1/3 innings with 10 strikeouts.
