State Wrestling Individual State Championship matches 2026

Listen back to all the exciting action of State Individual Championship matches across all Classes, including Girls!  Masyn Patrick of Holdingford becomes a 2-time State Champ and his teammate Jaxon Bartkowicz captures his 1st Individual title.  And in Class AA, the Little Falls Flyers Ivan Petrich closes out his brilliant career in purple with a 215 lb State Championship.  Wyatt Pilarski and Simon Boeckman of Holdingford finish in 2nd Place, as does Royalton/Upsala's Jake Leners.

Area wrestlers are back on the mat at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul as the Tournament moves to the 2nd round of Consolation matches as Individuals try to keep their seasons alive and move a step closer to a possible spot on the podium.

State Wrestling Individual Consolation 1st Round matches 2026

Listen back as area wrestlers from Pierz, Little Falls, Foley, Holdingford and Royalton/Upsala compete in the Individual Quarterfinals and the Consolation 1st round at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul.  Myah Held becomes the first Pierz Girls wrestler to ever win a match at the State Tournament in this round!

Class AA and Class A Individual and Girls 1st Round State Matches 2026

The Individual portion of the State Wrestling Tournament at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul with the Pioneers sending Easton Stangl-McCann, Rylan Gruber, Gauge Johnson, Carter Young, Link Toops, Jayden Zajac and Henry Hoffman on the Boys side and Myah Held for the Girls Tournament.  You'll also hear 1st round matches for the Little Falls Flyers wrestlers Axel Posterick Noah Cameron, Kobi Cameron, Chaz Gwost and Alex Petrich, as well as Holdingford wrestlers Wyatt Pilarski, Lane Patrick, Masyn Patrick, Simon Boeckman, Jaxon Bartkowicz and Mason Lichy.  The Foley Falcons had Seth Ramsdell, Wyatt Wall, Jacob Demarais, Hunter Wilhelmi, Teddy Rasmussen and William Gutormson in action. Also included are Royalton/Upsala wrestlers Jackson Dietman and Jake Leners as well as other matches of interest.

Pierz Pioneers vs Foley Falcons Class AA Team 3rd Place match 2026

The Pioneers defeated the Falcons 29-22 in the Class AA 3rd Place match at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul. Easton Stangl-McCann won a Decision, Levi Poser won a huge match at 114 by Fall and Rylan Gruber was awarded a 6-point win after being thrown on his head and being forced to medically forfeit. Gauge Johnson then followed that up with a 7-4 win in Sudden Victory to put Pierz ahead 18-0 after 4 matches. After Foley made it 18-8, Carter Young and Hunter Przybilla won back-to-back decisions to make it 24-8. A win for the Falcons at 160 made it 24-11, but then Jayden Zajac salted away the victory with a Tech Fall at 172 to give Pierz a 29-11 lead with 3 matches left, but Zajac's win was the Pioneers 7th of the match to lock down that tiebreaker.  So even if the Falcons pinned out in the final 3 matches , they would fall short.  Foley did win the final 3 matches but only picked up 2 bonus points as the Pioneers grabbed the 3rd Place trophy with a 29-22 victory!

Pierz Pioneers vs New Ulm Area Eagles Class AA Team Semifinals 2026

The #3 seeded Pioneers faced the #2 seeded Eagles in the Class AA Team Semifinals at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul.  The hopes of a State Championship appearance for the Pioneers were dashed as the Eagles powered their way to a decisive 42-12 win, sending the Pioneers to the Class AA 3rd Place match against Foley.  The Pioneers earned 3 wins against the eagles, getting a 10-2 Major Decision win from Rylan Gruber, a 9-7 win from Link Toops and a Tech Fall victory from Jayden Zajac.

Pierz Pioneers vs Perham Yellowjackets Class AA Team Quarterfinals 2026

The #3 seeded Pierz Pioneers take on the unseeded Perham Yellowjackets in the Class AA Team Quarterfinals at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul.  It was a very tight match as the Pioneers opened the match with wins from Easton Stangl-McCann, Levi Poser and Rylan Gruber to go up 11-0. A Grady Young win made it 14-3. After Perham cut it to 14-8, Carter Young won by Major Decision to make it 18-8.  The only pin of the match for either team came from Brayden Melby at 160 lbs, putting Pierz ahead 24-11. But then Perham rattled off 3 straight decision wins to close the gap to make it 24-20 with 1 match to go!  If Perham's #3 ranked wrestler was able to win by Major Decision, it would tie the match at 24-24 and Perham would win because they would have won 7 matches to the Pioneers 6. So it came down to Henry Hoffman of the Pioneers to at least hold it to a simple decision.  Henry fell behind right away but was able to keep it close.  And with :16 left, the score was 8-3 in the match land all Perham needed was a takedown to win the match and advance to the Class AA Semifinals  But Henry dug in his heels, held on and time ran out on the clock and despite the 8-3 loss, Henry had done his job as the Pioneers won a 24-23 thriller to advance to the Semifinals!
