The Pierz Pioneers Softball team opened their season on the road at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul against the Staples-Motley Cardinals. Pierz posted a 15-3 win in 5 innings as Erin Thesing allowed 4 hits and struck out 6. The offense was led by Macy Sadlovsky, who went 3-3 with a triple, an rbi, stolen base and scored 3 runs, Lizzy Gross went 2-4 with 5 stolen bases, an rbi and 2 runs scored.

The Pioneers gave #1 seeded Esko a spirited battle, eventually falling 79-66 to finish off the season with a record of 16-13. Nick Virnig led the Pioneers with 17, Brandon Solinger had 10 and Tyler Kimman had 9.

The Pioneers rolled past the Rebels 79-52 in the Section 7AA Quarterfinals at Hermantown on a Saturday afternoon. Nate Cekalla poured in 28 points while Jack Prokott and Nick Virnig added 9 points each as Pierz advanced to the Section Semifinals.
