Pierz Pioneers vs Staples-Motley Cardinals Section 6AA Baseball 2023

The Pioneers beat the Cardinals 10-0 in 6 innings in a Section 6AA Playoff game at Faber Field in St. Cloud.  Max Barclay threw a 3-hit shutout with 8 strikeouts while the offense collected 10 hits off Cardinals pitching.  Max Barclay was 2-3 with a double, a sacrifice fly and drove in 4 runs, Reese Young was 2-3 with a triple, Chase Becker was 2-3 with 3 rbi's, Joey Stuckmayer was 1-3 and Weston Woitalla was 1-3 with his team-leading 8th double of the season.

Pierz Lakers vs Fort Ripley Rebels Playoffs 2023

The Rebels beat the Lakers 4-2 in the first round of the North/East Division Playoffs.  Bryce Flanagan put the Rebels on the board with a 2nd inning rbi single. Alex Haapajoki singled to drive in Brett Kramer in the 3rd to make it 2-0. A Kolten Happke sacrifice fly in the top of the 4th cut the Rebels lead to 2-1, but in the 6th, Bill Sather's rbi double made it 3-1.  Pierz got a bases-loaded walk to Peter Herman in the 7th to make it 3-2 but Pierz left the bases loaded in the inning.  Fort Ripley added 1 more run in the 8th when Josh Hukriede was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 4-2.  Hukriede was injured on the play and would not return.  Pierz had their chances, stranding a total of 17 runners in the game.  Bryce Flanagan worked 6.1 innings to get the Win with Brett Kramer finishing the game for the Save.

Pierz Lakers vs Aitkin Steam Playoffs 2023

The Lakers eliminated the Steam from the North/East Division Playoffs with a 12-8 win at Hellie Field.  Pierz led 12-4 after 8 innings, but the Steam rallied to get the tying run to the plate in the 9th before Chad Weiss was summoned out of the bullpen to get the final out. Ryan Diers was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a 3-run Homer and drove in 5 runs all together, Brady Petron also collected 3 hits with a double and 3 rbi's and Chad Weiss went 3-4 to lead a 15-hit attack for the Lakers.  Landon Janzen was 3-4 with an rbi double and Jon Blanchette was 1-4 with a 3-run Homer and a sacrifice fly to drive in a total of 4 runs for Aitkin.  Preston Rocheleau got the Win with Chad Weiss getting the Save. 

Pierz Brewers vs Royalton Riverdogs Playoffs 2023

The Brewers beat the Riverdogs 6-3 in a Division Playoff elimination game at Hellie Field.  Michael Leidenfrost and Ryan Stuckmayer smashed Homers for the Brewers Gunnar Wicklund was 2-3 with an rbi double and Rylee Rauch had 3 hits, all of them doubles for Pierz.  Jonah Prokott went 7 innings to earn the Win with Peter Schommer going 2 innings to get a Save. Grayson Suska, Tyler Jendro and Zack Cekalla all had 2-hit games for Royalton. 

Avon Lakers vs St. Stephen Steves Playoffs 2023

The Lakers captured the South/West Division Playoff title with a 3-1 win over the Steves at Blattner Field.  With the score tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 8th, Peyton Randall singled to drive home Noah Voz, then Ryan Janzen delivered a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1 after 8 innings. Elian Mezquita got the Win in relief for Avon. 

Opole Bears vs St. Wendel Saints Playoffs 2023

The Saints ended a 26-year Region Tournament drought with a 10-0 win in 8 innings over the Bears at Red Bialka Memorial Ballpark in a Region 8C Play-In game.  Austin Dickmann was outstanding on the mound, losing his bid for a no-hitter with 1 out in the bottom of the 8th.  He settled for a 1-htit shutout with 13 strikeouts.  Tanner Reis went 3-4 with a double, Austin Dickmann was 1-3 with 3 rbi's, Brandon Dickmann was 1-4 with a 2-run single and Logan Harren, Tyler Huls and Jake Ethen had multi-hit games for St. Wendel, who last qualified for a Region Tournament in 1996.  Hunter Boeckermann had Opole's lone hit with his 1-out single in the 8th inning. 

Buckman Billygoats vs Nisswa Lightning Playoffs 2023

The Billygoats captured the North/East Division Playoff title with a 7-5 win over the Lightning in Buckman. Buckman scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st and never trailed, led by a 3-hit game from Matt Kummet, and 2 hits apiece from Matt Tautges, Lane Girtz, Jack Suska, Andrew Rueckert and Joe Kahl.  Nisswa was led by Chris Pederson, who went 3-5 with a pair of doubles.  Matt Tautges got the Win with Ben Thoma earning a Save. 

Sobieski Skis vs Foley Lumber Jacks 2023

The Lumber Jacks downed the Skis 7-3 in Foley behind the big offensive day from Drew Beier, who went 4-5 with a pair of doubles and a solo Homer, driving in 2 runs. Joe Ziwicki and Colby Johnson had 2-hit games for Foley as Alex Foss earned the Win.  Matt Filippi and Riley Hirsch had 3-hit games for Sobieski. 

Royalton Riverdogs vs Aitkin Steam 2023

The Riverdogs won a close 4-3 game over the Steam in Aitkin.  Joe Gaida went 3-3 with an rbi to lead the Royalton offense while Zach Leibold and Nathan Psyck teamed up for the pitching Win.  Jon Blanchette Homered for the Steam.

Avon Lakers vs Pierz Lakers 2023

Avon slipped by Pierz 1-0 at Blattner Field in Avon on a walk-off single by Peyton Randall with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th inning. Brady Petron was 2-4 with a double for Pierz while Ryan Janzen and Elian Mezquita had 2-hit games for Avon.  Matt Pichelmann got the Win out of the bullpen for Avon.
