The Pioneers seemed to have their Friday night game at Freeport against Melrose well in hand, leading 4-0 going to the bottom of the 7th, but Melrose had other ideas. After Preston Saehr had handcuffed the Melrose offense for no runs on 3 hits for the first 6 innings, the Dutchmen came out in the 7th with 5 straight singles to score 2 runs, and when Preston hit the next batter to force in a 3rd run, Kaden Kruschek came in to relieve. He walked the first man he faced to make it 4-4, then gave up a walk-off single to Sam Wehlage to complete the Dutchmen's crazy 5-4 comeback win.
